Please read all instructions below carefully before proceeding for information that may affect your specific computer.It is always highly recommended that you backup your data. Your data must exist in multiple locations to be qualified as having a backup. Anytime a drive is being updated, upgraded or moved, there is a potential for data loss. This update is non-destructive. While OWC has updated several drives with no data loss, we strongly recommended backing up all data on the SSD before performing this update.Instructions to verify your firmware version.
If your OWC SSD Firmware revision contains xxxA12F0 or xxxA13F0, then xxx365A12F0 or xxx365A13F0 is the most up-to-date revision, current as of October 20, 2011.
If your OWC SSD Firmware revision contains xxxABBF0, then 603ABBF0 is the most up-to-date revision, current as of March 30, 2015.
- Intel based Mac. (Please see supported models below)
- Wired USB Keyboard & Mouse
- Internal or External CD/DVD Drive
- Blank DVD media
- OWC Mercury Electra* (3G, 6G), Extreme* (Pro, RE, 3G, 6G), or Aura* (Pro, MBA, 1.8, 6G) SSD.
*Not including 960GB models.
- Be sure you have a backup of ALL critical data.
- Download the image from the link above.
- Verify what OWC SSD generation and firmware you are using by following the guidance in the link to the left.
- Burn image to DVD. See support.apple.com/kb/ht2087 for instructions.
- Insert the DVD into the Mac with the SSD to be updated.
- Please power down and disconnect all external storage devices attached to your system.
- Reboot the system while holding down the option key.
- Select the Disc image labeled "Windows" and the utility will boot. Please be patient as it could take up to 5 minutes to load.
- When the desktop loads, double click on the icon to begin.
- Review and agree to the Software License Agreement.
- The utility will automatically identify your drives.
- Select the drive to be updated.
- If your SSD requires an update click the Update button.
- After the update is complete / successful you will be prompted to Shutdown.
- At this point you can power up your machine and continue typical use.

macOS 10.13.4 Combo update
The macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 update improves the stability, performance, and security of your Mac, and is recommended for all users.
This update:
• Adds support for Business Chat conversations in Messages in the U.S.
• Adds support for external graphics processors (eGPUs)
• Fixes graphics corruption issues affecting certain apps on iMac Pro
• Allows jumping to the right-most open tab using Command+9 in Safari
• Enables sorting Safari bookmarks by name or URL by right clicking and choosing ‘Sort By…’
• Fixes an issue that may prevent web link previews from appearing in Messages
• Helps protect privacy by only AutoFilling usernames and passwords after selecting them in a web form field in Safari
• Displays warnings in the Safari Smart Search Field when interacting with password or credit card forms on non-encrypted web pages
