1a) Ringer on Silent-Mode
On supported models: Open Control Center, then tap the bell icon.
1b) Ringer is in Silent-Mode via Action Button/Silet Switch.
(By default, the Action button turns Silent mode on or off. Learn more about the Action button.)
2) Ringer Volume is too low.
Volume up/down buttons to adjust the volume when listening to music, watching videos, or playing games. When you're not using other apps, the buttons will adjust the ringer volume.
3) Do Not Disturb has been enabled
Go to Settings > Focus, then tap a Focus—to see what mode may be enabled.
4) Phone Number is Blocked.
For phone numbers, go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Blocked Contacts > Add New. For email addresses, go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Blocked > Add New.
5) Business Caller Identification Enabled
Go to Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification and ensure Business Call Identification is enabled to properly identify legitimate business calls. If disabled, some calls may be treated as unknown and silenced.
Check Silence Unknown Callers (Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers). If enabled, business calls from numbers not in your Contacts, Recents, or Messages may not ring, even if identified by Business Caller Identification.
Verify Silence Junk Callers (Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification). If your carrier flags a business call as potential spam, it’s silenced and sent to voicemail.
Review third-party call identification apps (e.g., Truecaller, Follow Up Boss) in Call Blocking & Identification. These apps may override Business Caller Identification, filtering calls in ways that prevent ringing.
To troubleshoot:
Disable Silence Unknown Callers and Silence Junk Callers in Settings > Phone.
Ensure Business Call Identification is toggled on in Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification.
Reorder or disable third-party call identification apps to prioritize Apple’s Business Caller Identification.
Contact your carrier to confirm if business numbers are being misflagged as spam.
